Attendance Monitoring

I remember the first job I had as a Human Resource practitioner was to do attendance monitoring. Back then, it was quite an arduous task since I have to check and validate time cards manually. Oh, I always dread the day when I had to gather all those time cards so our payroll can compute for their salary including tardiness, over time and absences. Whew! Those were the days. Today, we already systems to help us generate these reports. Employees just have to log in using biometrics or log in via their ID's and the system will generate their ins and outs. How I wish we had those during those times?

Today, biometrics are not only used for attendance monitoring but a lot others. For instance, Your voice unlocks the door of your house, or an iris scan even safety vaults are equipped with biometrics. There are fingerprint safe vaults for your cash and other valuables. That's technology working for you.

On the other hand, my small office -- with less than 10 people still uses manual encoding since it's still manageable. Soon, when we become BIG enough. I might use these technology to my advantage.

White Chic

Managing the Business

What's keeping me busy nowadays? Managing our business being my hubby's office manager.

Quite a lot on my plate right now, which I always say are "sweet problems" since work relates to new business and business relates to moolah. When you run your own office, you now understand when you need to do overtime work during your corporate days. I, personally have more patience in dealing with our people, with paperwork and all the "work" passed on to me. Technically, since we are starting small, I always go out for bargains but not sacrificing quality. Like for instance I scout for reasonably priced office supplies, wholesale printers, and other equipment to lessen our cost.

My exposure in the corporate world has helped me a lot in managing the office and together with our accountants, I also take care of our finances and compliance with the government.

The main difference now is that I do not need to be in the office everyday, time in at 9am and go home at 5pm. Today, I can go as I please and still meet clients of my own for my real estate business. (wink)
