Congratulations to my BIL, the Senator!

A month after the local elections, my brother-in-law was finally proclaimed as the 11th in the winning circle of 12 senators.

It was history in the making --- the reason why my husband and I took a day off from work to join the family and the rest of his supporters on this joyous day---being the first military officer to land a seat in the senate while detained on coup d’etat charges.

As he entered the session hall of the Commission on Elections, everybody was clapping and shouting. It was a triumphant entry. Even some of the employees of the COMELEC, put their work to a halt to see what was happening. The support was really overwhelming. I couldn't believe it myself, as if he was a movie star!

Nobody really believed he would win, except of course, us, his family! Odds were against him -- campaigning behind bars, he was only granted media access during the last few day of the campaign period and above all, no money to spend. Who would have thought?

As I keep telling my husband, if he wins, he is really destined to serve the people. No matter what others say, if it’s God’s will, then it shall happen.

I want to share with you what he said, "We cannot claim credit for this win. It was solely the people's victory!" Truly, it is!

I will close this post by thanking all the people who have supported my BIL. This is only the beginning of his service to the people.

Congrats to your BIL,

I emailed a LA Times Article dated 06/15/07 pertaining to his proclamation. Glad your campaigning paid off despite all odds. It is really Gods plan for him to serve. Maybe he is destined to really be a catalyst in the changing political arena in the Philippines. We need men like him. God Bless,

Congrats! I have often been questioned why I voted for Trillanes and I couldn't say he's my blogfriend's BIL. LOL Seriously, I voted for him because he is young, idealistic, brave -- and therefore makes me hope. I jsut couldn't write the names of the tired old tradpols. Will be cheering for him. Sana hindi ma-lulon ng sistema.

Congratulations to your BIL!! I voted for him. Just saw in the news that his new adviser is former senator Leticia Shahani. She was a very close pal to my Lola. They used to work closely on a lot of "women causes" and civic work.

hi sassy mom,

congrats to your BIL. He really deserves to win. I've voted for him. He's my husband's underclass at PMA. Have worked in the Senate before, have encountered quite a few corrupt leaders. Hope Senator Trillanes would be a welcome change. Sana mahiya ang mga corrupt sa kanya....

Salen, remember when we first met at PMN mommy lunch? I told you I voted for him and hoped he would win?

I am now really happy for him and for your family. We hope that his stint in the Senate will bring back the days of public servants who truly aim to serve the people, not themselves.
