2009 National Cheerleading Competition - WS

I woke up at 4:30 am to prep my daughter for the 2009 National Cheerleading Competion – High School Division; they need to be in school by 5:30am. By 8:30am, I was at Ynares Sports Arena to give my full support to their team and also to assist my daughter because her uniform got ripped. Whew! Can you imagine the anxiety? My sewing skills did come in handy.

Below is a picture of my daughter and her team mates warming up before their 6 minutes of practice on the mat.

Warm up

Their team was not part of the competition, NCC will be introducing a grade school division next year and they are part of the three schools invited to do their exhibition cheer as a preview of things to expect next year.

Thing is, I only watch cheerleading competition on TV and seeing it live gives you a different high. To watch the aerobic stunts, the pyramid and especially their breathtaking lifts, gives a mom like me a nervous breakdown. But it was fun!

Seeing my daughter on the mat made me really proud. There is no denying that the long hours of practice, going home at 8pm almost every day, was worth the effort.

To all the 14 High School Teams that have made it to the Final, Kudos to all of you. You were all great. But of course, in competition only one will emerge as a winner and that honor goes to Pasig Catholic College.

To my dear daughter, you make me really proud!

This is an entry for Weekend Snapshots.

Those flexible bodies. Sometimes i do not like to watch on TV this type of competition. It makes me nervous seeing those high jumps and toss. Yes, practice really pays off. Good luck to your daughter.
