A couple of days ago my site was attacked with I don't know what. This is the message that appeared every time someone visits my site. Naturally, I panicked!
It was truly a nightmare! Good thing I registered my blog site with Google Webmaster Tools. The Google Webmaster tool will give you pointers as to the causes of the problem and what steps you can do. I truly am not a techy, so I do not have an idea on what to do. So what I did was to back up my site and took out everything. The links, the widgets and every advertisement. I disabled the backlinks -- this links may have caused the attack. I am not 100% sure.
I have to get a new template and uploaded my site again. After which, I submitted my blog to Google Webmaster for my site to be reviewed and after 24 hours my site was up again. Whew!
Moral of the story? Be careful of links. I wish to apologize to my readers who have added me to their links. I am carefully rebuilding my site -- which requires a lot of time and effort, two of the things I do not have much of nowadays. It's the Christmas season, for pete's sake.
For now, I have to contend with my current template without my signature header.
The web truly becomes a dangerous place. I hope we can do our part in making it secure and safe in order to reduce risks.

how do you back up posts by the way? i think i need to do this..
hope you can share some tips!
I was visiting some blogs nga and I saw this warning too. I didn't push thru with opening them. Ano kaya yung malware na yan? Yes, I second Mommy Chris' question, how did you back up your posts?
It was quite disturbing how this malwares proliferate. Anyway, to help you guys here's what I do to back up your post for BLOGSPOT users.
The way to back up your blog in blogger is to go to your Dashboard>Settings>Basic>Blog Tools>Export your blog.
Hope this helps.
So sorry to hear about this Salen! Yeah I also saw this malware warning when I visited your site. Sorry just got distracted that was why I wasn't able to tell you about it. Glad you are able to back up. *hugz*
Malwares that attack sites right now come from russian web sites. If you find a .ru link in your blog, remove that right away. That's an iframe virus that keeps attacking different blogs. My sites were attacked by this virus and it was a lot of hassle putting everything back after removing it.
Anyway, glad your site is back up, Sassy Mom :)
Happy New Year!
