Going the Extra Mile

Recently, I accompanied my daughter in a hunt for a party dress. After going the rounds at Glorietta, we landed at Crossings Department Store. I believe this is the second time I have blogged about this store .I just love going to Crossings, because it carries a wide range of fashionable outfits that will suit your needs. It features stylish collections from local and foreign designers and the price range is quite affordable and more importantly, it’s their friendly and very accommodating staff that gives the edge.

Among the boutiques inside, it was Cosmopolitan Clothing that caught my daughter’s eye. The style is chic, modern and playful, perfect for her age. A fab lady approached us and offered different dresses for my daughter, she was so kind to even assist us in going to the fitting room. As another of her clients arrived, she then proceeded to entertain her and her staff willingly took over in giving us options to choose from. I knew that she was the owner and I was right. It was Ms. Annie Ong who personally assisted us and even made sure that we got the free accessory that goes with the dress. Truly an extra mile and I appreciate it.

As customers, we always want the best value for our money however if the items are in par in terms of quality and price, it’s always the service that wins the game. It my years of being training professional, I have been an advocate of customer service and I am very keen on the way people practice it. Every time I go to an establishment, I expect the best service. And when I don’t experience it, I make sure that the management knows – not because I just want to be an irate customer, but it’s a way of letting them know where they can improve.

Yes, customer service can be learned through a series of training and workshops but it does not end there. Classroom knowledge is not enough. You need to practice it regularly and perfect the craft. Perfect practice makes perfect. Just like in any other profession, if you want to improve your skills and competencies, you need training and actual hands on experience. Even medical practitioners do that, that’s why there are a lot of medical assistant training school available for people who want to pursue their career in the field of health service.

Customer Service is actually the hardest department in our Bank.. With all the stores selling the same products, its going the extra mile that can give us the edge in sales. :)
