The Heat Is On

I am literally feeling the heat this summer; my body is inflamed with prickly heat. Prickly heat or Miliarria is one of the most common diseases during summer. It is caused by excessive sweating. When there’s too much sweat, our sweat glands get clogged causing irritation.

I feel uncomfortable with those very itchy red skin rashes all over my body, most especially in the unexposed areas where the sweat are trapped. This is mostly common among babies although adults like me, can get it too. Honestly, this is the first time I have experienced this, maybe because when I was working, I was locked up in an air-conditioned all day.

I did some research, although it’s not a serious disease, but corticosteroid creams can help. Now, I am in my second tube of corticosteroid cream! Talc powder with corn starch can bring a calming effect but the most effective way to prevent this is to avoid conditions that increase sweating – meaning an air-conditioned room. Wow! How can I possible do that without hurting my pocket? Especially nowadays when MERALCO has increased almost 50% of their distribution rate! Good luck!

During these days, when I wish I live in a cold country where I just need to light my fireplace to have some heat or maybe install an outdoor fireplace in order to get warm even when I'm outside.
