addiction to any vice is easier said than done. I personally feel that it’s all in the mind. Discipline and strong will to change is the key.
A lot of experts say that taking baby steps or to quit gradually is easier than quitting abruptly. It may be true in most cases like when you’re used to the habit of eating fatty and unhealthy foods probably the best way to deal with this bad habit is gradual cessation. However for other addictions, like smoking, drinking, gambling, or even internet addiction, it is best that you just quit.
Some health professionals even resort to altering in order to help a person quit their addiction. For instance, for smokers, there are substitutes being recommended like gums, licorice and now they have e cigarette to help with the craving. Although some people find this effective but more people agree that if your stick with your goal and be certain about the reasons you want to quit, is the best way to keep out of your addiction.
Life coaches say that it takes 27 days to form a habit therefore it only takes 27 consecutive days for the bad habit to get out of your system. Do not count the days and before you know it, you’re totally free from it.
One of the best things to avoid your addiction is to change your environment. If you’re addicted to the internet and yourself tempted to turn on your computer, decide to take a walk outside or do a little exercise. It is not only helping you quit, but it’s also good for your health.
